Air Conditioning systems can account for a large proportion of a building's energy usage. Having regular inspections carried our by a qualified assessor can improve efficiency and reduce energy consumption which in turn reduces capital operating costs and carbon emmissions.
Building owners and managers who operate air-conditioning systems have statutory obligations under the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) to ensure that air conditioning inspections are conducted by qualified and accredited air-conditioning inspectors.
Regulations are mandatory for all air conditioning systems over 250kW. System over this threshold must have had their first inspection done immediately, but this drops to 12kW by 4th January 2011.
As a general guideline buildings below 2000m2 are unlikely to need a certificate as their loading will probably be less than 250kW but smaller buildings will be caught up when the limit is reduced to 12kW next year.
If you control the techical operation of an air conditioning system, are a building manager or owner - you are responsible for obtaining an assessment report.
The assessment must be carried out by an accredited Air Conditioning Energy Assessor. Accreditation ensures that the Assessors are professional, competent and adequately insured for the work.
We can arrange the assessments for you. We have key personel trained and accredited for this work.
